Recover from Sudden Malfunction in most electronic devices

Recover from Sudden malfunction - Thunderstorm causes electronic jitter problems

My Laptop, Bluetooth, Xbox, and other electronic devices were just working fine and suddenly they stopped working - why? No worry, we will explain the problem and the fix so scroll below and learn with us.

Grounding of modern homes insure not only safety of home residents but also safety of your electronic home equipment and appliances.
In the past when thunderstorm hit homes most of electronic devices were subjugated to temporary, or permanent, damage. To reduce the damage houses were provided by protection mechanism called Grounding. Proper Home Grounding serves to protect people and electronic devices as well.
Grounding doesn’t guarantee elimination of damage 100% all of the times but dramatically reduces the chance of damage due to thunderstorms, static electricity, un-intended inductive loading, or severe electromagnetic radiation. All of those radiations occur either naturally or are human made. Unless there is strong protection a temporary or permanent damage may happen.
The Smart Gorilla Unit should be automatically protected since it powers from the home AC line and the AC line usually have protective grounding. Battery operated Garage Openers are not as protected because they don’t have the protection provided by Home Ground. For this reason the Smart Gorilla Device is more immune to static, thunderstorms and spontaneous electromagnetic radiation. When thunderstorms hit Garage Openers that are powered by the AC line (like the Smart Gorilla Device) the AC line absorbs this electric shock and leaves the Garage Door Opener alone. When the thunderstorm hits a battery-operated Garage Opener, or a lose Garage Door Opener, and grounding is not available then it will take the hit. Unless the electronic device is equipped with some form of protection the device will take a hit.
If your home has poor grounding and your electronic devices, such as computers, laptops, power supplies are hit by thunderstorm or inductive load high voltage generation then expect your electronic devices to suffer from confusion, it is also known as electric jitter. Once your electronic device, any, stops working as expected then you will need to re-boot that device to recover from this malfunction; power it OFF, wait for about 10 seconds, then power it back ON. There is a good chance it will come back to life again.

What causes Jitter in electronic devices?

Many nearby devices or natural phenomenon causes jitter problem among of which are electronic monitors, electronic LED bulbs, white light tubes, motors and relays connected to the same AC line, nearby elevators and escalators, thunderstorms, and fast switching of inductive electric loads such as heavy fans and transformers. Just be informed about all of those causes to Jitter issue and how to recover your electronic devices from it.

There are electric filters available in the market to remove those electric jitter sparks and they can help you protect expensive electronic device operating in very harsh environments such as busy factories, crowded retail areas, or active shopping malls.

Note: If your main Garage Motor Controller (not the Bluetooth Unit) suddenly stops responding to the original Remote Control Clicker (original remote control unit) then there is a chance that the recent addition of an LED Bulb, White Light Tube, or nearby monitor may have caused this interference. You may troubleshoot the problem by temporarily turning OFF the newly introduced fixture, or device, then test the remote control clicker again. Some times the problem may be resolved by moving the newly introduced device away from the Garage Motor Controller. This is experimental, so try various distances until the problem is resolved.

Have a safe day, everyday, from FT Automation family and friends.

  5. I read previously that the redirect gaskets are not suggested by the Instant Pot company because they can damage the machine and void the warranty. Probably something to verify with the company, I would think. Tally Bendix Elfie
